About Taloula Mango...

We are often asked about the name Taloula Mango.

This is a bit complicated but we'll try to keep it as simple as we can. Short answer: Taloula Mango's is named after our female Golden Retriever puppy. There the story gets complicated....

Su (Mom) suggested the puppy's name be Mango, but Cameron (middle son) is not fond of fruit and was not pleased, while Kyle (the youngest) seizing the chance to tease his older brother naughtily agreed with Mom.

Meanwhile, Drew (the oldest) suggested Taloula. Everyone in the family was surprised and queried from whence cometh the name. Drew explained that it was from the movie Cool Runnings, in the scene where the team was trying to decide on a name for their sled. One character suggested Taloula and the rest burst into laughter. The character was not at all amused because Taloula was his mother's name. We all loved the sound of Taloula Mango and so our puppy was named. (This is, after all, about a puppy, remember?)

Norman (Dad) & Su figured if they were to open another restaurant in addition to Kangaroo Court, Taloula Mango would be a cool name. Today Taloula Mango is happily married to a handsome Golden Retriever by the name of Darby. So . . . our beach bar hut in front of Taloula Mango's has the name Darby's by the Sea --Norman, Su, Drew, Cameron & Kyle Wathey
